Classic Doom (doom3 engine)

Flaming sheep software totally redid the original doom maps in the doom3 engine. Not just the maps, but modified (faster-paced) gameplay, some new weapon models, menu system etc. Very very cool. I was not expecting much, but it was a real trip down memory lane, and the gameplay was a lot of fun. (more fun than Doom3 sadly) :D

Anyone tried it?

It is worth the download

I think it includes MP capability.

I downloaded it but I think I am missing one crucial thing- I don't have Doom 3. I thought this was freestanding, but I guess you need the retail Doom 3 installed to play this?

    Usually you do.

Yeah, it's a D3 mod. All you do is uncompress the cdoom folder into your doom3 working directory, and launch it from the 'mods' menu from within doom3.

I must say, cdoom is a lot of fun :D
