My first suspicion is that the power button isn't right- like maybe your case button isn't seated properly over the underlying pushbutton. You may also want to trace the wiring from your power button and see that there are no breaks or problems with the wire run. Also make sure that the underlying button isn't stuck.

    Try resetting the BIOS.

It would also be a good idea to triple-check which set of pins you're hooking the switch to. I'm sure you've thought of this, but it's so easy to get off by a pin (or on the wrong row). I did this myself just yesterday. :o

You can also use the tip of a small screwdriver to manually short the two pins together; that's all the switch does for you anyway.

    Good luck. :)

OK. Can you try the power supply from your old PC?

EDIT: Good suggestions, prof- do his suggestions first.

Also, if there is an extra power connector on the MB and/or the video card make sure you've attached a power lead to them.

Unhook everything except the RAM, CPU & HS/F, and Video Card. If you have an old PCI Video Card you can use temporarily go with that.

    Then give it another shot.

I had a similar prob while building one PC. (shame mode) I'd check the HDD and power LEDs are the right way round or even disconnect them for now. Simple mistake but it stopped it booting.
