Roxio media creator 7 problems

I need some help before I either format, or throw this pc in a gravel pit ;)

I had Roxio Media Creator 7 installed, and a friend sent me version 8 and said to uninstall the previous version. Which I did....that's when trouble started.

I uninstalled it, cleaned out the registry. Nothing was left in there to do with Roxio or so it said, then used a couple of registry cleaners. Everything seemed fine at this point.

But everytime I right click on something to open it, I get this box pop up saying - 'Please wait while windows configures Roxio Easy Media Creator 7'. Then the Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 - InstallShield Wizard pops open saying 'Unable to find a certificate file', canceling this another box opens saying 'there is a problem authenticating your version. Please make sure your system is set to the current date' - it is set correctly.
So after all this clicking and canceling, I can then open what I was trying to when this started.

So I installed version 8 thinking this might solve the problem, of course it didn't. So I reinstalled version 7 just knowing this would take care of it.

Guess what - it didn't :(

Does anyone have a clue how to sort this out - before I lose my mind over it?

Thanks

A shot in the dark here.

Have you tried to restore your system (I'm assuming it's XP) to a point before you un-installed Ver.7. I'm thinking there was a registry entry Ver.8 needed.

I don't know if this will work, but what have you got to lose it beats a format/install.

edit: Does your registry cleaner give you a backup file or a way to un-do the cleaning?

I've encountered the exact same problem. Did you ever find a solution?

I thought this might have gone away - but it's reared it's ugly head again.

I went through the registry and found these entries and cannot delete them, or change them.

    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT

    roxio.file server.1
    CLSID

    roxio7. RXACMP3CTENOP.ACObjIpl
    CLSID
    Curver

    roxio7. RXACMP3CTENOP.ACObjImpl.1
    CLSID

Does anyone know how I can get rid of these entries?
    Thanks so much

Can you do it in safe mode? I download roxizap and then went through the registry manually deleting a lot of Roxio entries. Some couldn't be deleted, but after I was finished the problem was gone and my system seems to be working properly now.
