Help please: Explorer.exe crashes+other problems

Hello.

Something very strange is happening to my system at the moment. I have tried everything I can think of to resolve the problem, and now I'm asking you guys for help because I have no idea what to do anymore. This has been driving me nuts for the last 4 days. I have even tried screaming for hours at this damned piece of metal and swearing at it in Russian, and even breaking things lol, but that just made everything worse (surprise surprise...).
So here it goes:

- When I try and open a folder on the desktop (computer, documents etc.), the cursor shows that it's working for about 3-4 seconds, and then stops. Nothing opens. When I go to check it out in Task Manager-my CPU usage is at 100% and does not drop back at all. This happens every single time I try to open a folder from the desktop. But progams open successfully. The same story when I right click on the folder, but this time desktop just freezes. Task bar still works, though.
- My internet connections have dissapeared into nowhere, I have figured out to open them by Objectbar (Windows taskbar replacement), and it shows me the dialog (not the actual connections folder though) with the internet connections, like they are all there, and always have been. ?!?
- I'm unable to drag&drop or copy&paste or move any shortcuts. Absolutely nothing happens. This is also the reason why I cannot post a HijackThis log at the moment.
-I have 5 svchost.exe processes running (as far as I know that's completely normal), but the problem is, that one of them is eating more and more memory as time passes. It never done that before. I have downloaded all possible fixes for all possible viruses that claim to be one of the svchost.exe processes, and the fixes have found nothing.
-I can't uninstall any program because I get a message: "Access Denied. You do not have rights because Windows is running in Safe Mode or your Windows Installer is corrupt" (rough translation). Though the uninstallation of the upgrade of the Windows Installer itself that I got through the latest Microsoft Updates about a week ago, seems to work, but it told me that some programs might work incorrectly if I do restore it to previous version, so I'm too scared to do anything to it.
- In Safe Mode, however, desktop folders open perfectly fine, but the right-clicking still freezes explorer.exe. Move, Drag&Drop and Copy&Paste still don't work. I have installed Ad-Aware, Spybot S-D (plus all the latest updates for them) and Hijackthis as instructed in one of the posts here, found tons of spyware and removed all except one entry of ISearchTech.SideFind that still sits in my /Software directory when i open regedit, and I have tried everything to remove it but it just seems to love my system. I highly doubt that that thing alone is causing all the horrible things happening to my system, anyway and I'm pretty sure it's not a virus, Symantec Antivirus hasn't detected any. Well...I have actually had a W32.Spybot.Worm on the system a couple of weeks ago, which seems to be gone, as nothing is detecting it anymore. Also, before restarting I get a "explorer.exe not responding" or "dll32.exe not resonding", and sometimes system gives me 60 seconds to save data (yeah, like I can...), and then restarts due to the "ending of a RPC process" or something like that. The last one usually happens when I'm online. -System Restore shows a blank white window when turned on, which I manage to do quite rarely as most of the time it gives me an error.

ANY help would be highly appreciated, I'm sorry that I have not posted a HijackThis log, but like I said, I just can't. Oh and also, sorry that theres a lot of information to read here, but at least you guys know everything going on.

Thanks for looking.

Edit: just discovered that my Msn Messenger has er...uninstalled itself.
