Computer/WMP giving me grief

edited December 2005 in Science & Tech
Hi - cld someone offer some advice on this problem I'm having?

I've tried to play certain movie files on my Windows Media Player 10, and they play, except they're back-to-front and flipped upsidedown and really choppy. ?!?! The same files play the right way up on DivX though still plays in a stuttery kind of fashion. The sound seems fine though.

The files I've tried playing are avi files, but not all the avi files on my computer have this problem. Dvds also play with no problems. I can't figure out what's going on...please help!

Kez

WMP is AWFUL, what cha need to do is get the codec pack FFDShow, adn then get either MPC ( media player classic ) of VLC, VLC is my player of choice, it plays basicly everything, from KVCD DAT files, to dvd's, to any kind of media format and image file.

I used to love VLC, but for the past few months I've had many problems with it. For one, if you interrupt a video at any time while its playing (like to pause, scan forwards or backwards) the entire video screws up and never clears up unless you stop it and start the whole thing over again.

I just use WinAMP (with authentic WMP10 skin) for all audio and video now. :)

hm...under the WMP faq section they say something about checking for driver software updates for my graphics adapter...how do you check what graphics adapter you have, and hence look for driver software updates?

and also....is it a feasible option to uninstall and reinstall WMP?
