Source: AMDZoneWhen dual core CPUs burst onto the scene it was quickly found that they did not benefit gaming. Sure there was dual core support in an older version of Quake 3, and couple of other games, but nothing modern. Recently that has changed as Intel has put its coders to work optimizing Quake 4 for all things multithreaded including AMD's dual core CPUs. We tested it out here and found decent gains, but we are not done with the game yet as some conflicts with Nvidia drivers were found. Well now to our surprise yesterday afternoon another multithreaded gaming patch version 1.01 was released this time for Call of Duty 2. We had already found out that this was the first game to take real advantage from a video card with 512MB of memory. Now it appears it will be one of the first patched for dual core. So what does this patch get us? Here we have some details from the readme.
