I have a friend with a HP Pavillion laptop with on-board wireless- and he was curious as to how he could improve his pick-up range. Is there like a card or adapter that could boost the reception ability of this unit?

Thanks, Tex. I was basically showing my friend the forum and folding, etc as well as asking this question. He may chime in pretty soon. I'm thinking there is not a lot he can do about boosting his on-board ability, so I'm assuming you're recommending shutting off the on-board and using PCMCIA type card and antenna? Any you prefer?

Is he in his own house or what? There are all kinds off antena's and boosters etc...for the laptop or the router if he is at home. Some are directional for example where the router is at one end of the house and its antenna looks like a dish and projects primarily one way. The possibilitys are only controlled by his budget basicaly.
