access permissions

edited December 2005 in Science & Tech
Hi - Can someone please help me? I have a home office network with four computers. All works well but this one comp named PRES. Shared files from PRES do not show up on Network Places but PRES does show up on workgroup computers (however, it will not let me access PRES from workgroup computers - it gives that message we all know so well saying access is denied - talk to the system administrator, etc.) What is interesting is that if I type in the path \\PRES\c then I can access PRES. So what is the deal? Can anyone help.

PS - all firewalls are turned off right now. All file sharing etc is set appropriately unless theres something I've missed.

I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks and God Bless.

    It sure will. :)

I've seen this problem a number of times and it always seems to take a number of steps to correct it. Even then, you're often really not sure which one did the trick.

Now I'm almost hoping to come across it again so I can try the Registry trick. :D
