Please help ASAP: someone accesses my email account by sending me email with spyware

Please help: I think someone is accessing my Yahoo email account. When I opened a Yahoo email (that someone sent an article from a webpage to my Yahoo email address), at the top of the article in that email I saw a small blank square with just an "x" at the corner.

When I clicked at that square, it opened with the question "...Do you allow active x control... ?" Whether I clicked "Yes" or "No" that square still opened up as another window showing my usual initial page of my Yahoo email account that always shows each time I sign on ("... Welcome... Inbox... Draft... Sent..." )

I did not download anything but I worry why there's such a window (showing my email account) inside the email came from someone? Since I clicked at that square, can they see all my mail now?

Please help me ASAP!

Create a folder in your C:\ and call it HJT

    Go here and download HJT

Save and unzip it in your new folder

Create a log and post it here :)

I would ask at email address abuse@yahoo.com . I do not Yahoo, so can't tell you if this would make you vulnerable to that from what you did. But, if Yahoo thinks the email is dangerous they can block it if you send them the whole email as text.

Thanks Trogan_1000 and Straight_Man, but because that email was from a friend I cannot ask Yahoo about it, fearing they will monitor my friend's email and mine, sturring up something that I am not sure about my friend and don't want to hurt the friendship unnecessarily.

If anyone has experienced something like that with Yahoo email or has any other suggestions for me please let me know.

I've never had a problem like this with Yahoo, even though I hardly use it.

If you download HJT, like I mentioned in my first post, I will have a look to make sure nothing bad is in your computer :)

Maybe Straight_Man has another idea :)
