Laptop will not boot
I seem to be plagued with problems with my daughter's laptop, each one getting worse than the last.
It will now not even boot up, even in safe mode. It gets to a line saying:-
"multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)windows\system\giveio.sys" and then hangs.
In normal start up the fan just whirrs and there is a black screen.
Checking a recent thread the answer to a similar problem was to reinstall windows. Is that what I should do and if so what is the procedure? (I am a novice!)
Does anyone know what might be causing the problems, computer hanging, then the touchpad failing nd now nothing. Could it be a virus?
