Thank you for your interest in the MaxBoost Beta! We have reached our target number of beta testers, and the MaxBoost Beta is no longer available for download.
What is MaxBoost?

MaxBoost is performance-boosting driver software for Microsoft Windows 2000 and XP that is designed to complement your Maxtor ATA or SATA hard drive. The MaxBoost driver intelligently caches data in the host system RAM before it is written to and read from the Maxtor disk drive, optimizing the effective storage speed of your system in a variety of applications.

What are the minimum system requirements to use MaxBoost?

Maxtor or Quantum ATA or SATA hard drive (RAID not supported)
Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP operating system
Intel or AMD processor, 700 MHz or higher (Dual processors not supported. Hyper-Threading must be disabled.)
256 MB RAM or higher
Note: if you use Sandra or ATTO to test, you'll get weird results.

ps: they don't ask for personal info to sign-up. All you need is an email address and password.
You'll even receive a 10% OFF e-certificate from Maxtor's online store.

Check it out: it worked pretty good on a Maxtor 30GB (6E030L0) / IDE1 / NF7-S v1.2

HT P4's make up a tiny percentage of the CPU market. Them not supporting HT is no form of sign of alliegence to AMD.

Dual processor machines make up more of the market than HT machines so I doubt it is related at all.

I wonder if such a driver could be modded to support all brands of drives?

Anyone up to the task? ;)

i wasn't saying they were specifically supporting AMD over intel, just that it doesn't support the newest lines of P4's... didn't mean to be unclear

I noticed a very large slowdown in general PC usage but an increase in benchmarks, and it wastes all that memory for such a small increase in performace... i won't be using this little program untill it goes final and maybe not even then.

If the drive is attached to a none-IDE controller, it won't be recognized.

    Yes, it does.

Did you select 'optimize for A/V'? if so, they warn you about performance decrease.
"all that memory"? what, 32MB? that's nothing dude! and as you can see in my post, the performance boost is considerable.

NVIDIA nForce2 SPP/IGP ATA Controller with a driver version 5.10.2600.344 dated from 05.06.2003 and referenced as IDE driver 3. MaxBoost does not recognize Maxtor drives when running with it. You need to get the free driver update available from the Nvidia web site.
