New monitor resolution

edited January 2006 in Hardware
I am fortunate enough to have a new sony flat panel monitor. It's native resolution is 1280X1024. Using this resolution shows everything very clearly, but very small.
I can increase zoom levels in some applications, but not all (web browser, spreadsheets, etc).

Once I set this to a more "comfortable" level (1024 x768) the finer edges of letters and tool bar buttons become hazy.
I thought maybe it was becuase i was running on board graphics, so I installed a Geforce 5500, which didn't really help.
Any way to get rid of the fuzziness at 1024 x768?

no not really. A lcd monitor is meant to run at its native resolution and thats about it. My granddad runs his 17" and 800x600, its fuzy, but he needs it to read the screen. your gonna pretty much have to take you pick of small and sharp, or big and hazy. I think you can increase the size of the icons and such. other than that, im not sure.

Yeah. Your only option is to increase the size of the text and icons.
