checking temperatures

edited January 2006 in Hardware
I was just wondering can you check your videocard temp with an infrared temp gun. I have one of them for my hobby and all you need to do it point it at the thing. Will that work if I point it at the chipset?

Hah I've never thought of using those on computer parts. Yes I think that would work just fine, but make sure you have it close enough to get an accurate reading. I've also used those for RC, and they tend to be very innacurate the further away you hold the temp gun. I need to buy one of those sometime..

Also keep in mind everyone refers to component temps in Celsius, so don't get them mixed up.
