There are some problems in your log but you really need to put the Hijack This program into its own folder off the root directory. You can do this in Windows Explorer. Once you do this please make sure to close all other windows and run another scan with Hijack This and post a new log. You can make a desktop shortcut for Hijack This if you wish and you can also name the folder you put it in Hijack This or HJT for simplicity.

This may take more than one try but let's try this first.

Download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite--Here

You'll need to update the software after you install it, but don't run it yet.
After you update the software reboot your PC into safe mode. Do this by restarting and then repeatedly pressing the F8 key until the safe mode menu appears.

Run a full Ewido scan in safe mode. Save the logfile of the Ewido scan. Next boot back into normal mode and run Hijack This again. Put a check next to the following entries and click "fix checked":

    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
    O2 - BHO: Class - {A72AA2FE-E26C-B9E0-B909-4EC233716D29} - C:\WINDOWS\mfctz32.dll (file missing)

After you have done this post the Ewido log and a new Hijack This log here.

Are you still having problems? Your log looks much better but there are a couple of more things in there I don't like but I would like to know what type of symptoms you're having now. We'll look at the log again after I hear back from you. Ewido report looks good.

Don't worry about bothering me. I'm just sorry I can't respond as quickly as I'd like. You say now that you have no wallpaper and can't make folders on the desktop. Correct? Do you get an error message when you try to make a folder and if so what does it say? Wallpaper problems are sometimes caused by the smitfraud trojan. In light of that it wouldn't hurt to try the steps to remove the trojan. The steps to do that are here: http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?t=32218.

After you do that run Hijack This again and put a check next to the following entry(ies) and click "fix checked":

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WinLiveUpdate] C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\svchost.exe

Next navigate to the following folder in Windows Explorer:

    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\DAO\

Delete the svchost.exe file from that folder. Do not worry if it doesn't exist.

Again let me know about any error messages you have when it comes to making folders. After we do this we will probably run a couple more programs to rid you of this infection.
