new to messing with BIOS

I have been told by compaq to reset my BIOS

that makes me a bit uneasy i have a basic understanding of them but that is about it.

this is the problem my dvd player will not play cd's games that came with the computer. but it has no problem playing other cd's i have two drives on here and nether will play them

i have went threw the remove the drives and reinstalling them and that did not work these cd's will not play on other computers because that is how they are made but i can open files that are on them. so they are good

if i reset the BIOS is it possible that this will help?

if i reset the BIOS what possible problems with I run into

    odds are resetting the bios is not going to fix that problem =\

    that dosnt mean that it dosnt have the possibility of fixing it. It just in my experiance the bios would have nothing to do with not reading CD's

    are the discs CD's or DVD's, i know that DVD's will not work correctly in a drive that dosnt have the DVD feature. If you can browse the disc, what happens when you launch the setup on them?

    they are cds i know dvds will not play in a cd drive, my computer has a cd drive and a dvd drive and it will not play in either when it use to play in both. it not that its not reading cds its just not reading compaq cd's i can stick any other cd in the drives and it reads them with out a problem. so i dont think this is a drive problem. the cd say to only be distribted with compaq pc version 1.00 something is causing my computer not to realize that it can play these cd's

    You say that you can see the files on the CD's, what happens when you click on setup, or autorun in the CD files?
