Cannot Update Any Spyware Programs

Hi Everyone,

For 2 years I have been running SpywareBlaster, SpyBot 1.3
Ad-aware SE, Trojan Hunter and McAfee Enterprise 8.0 anitvirus software.

I have maintained an uninfected laptop during this time.

In the past two weeks I am not able to update any of these programs and get messages that I am either running the lastest version of the software or that an internet connection cannot be achieved or an error has occured.

I use Opera 8.51 with fully updated Windows XP Pro.

My browsing has been uneventful and my computer is working well with no noted pop ups or hijacking that I can detect.

I have run a scan using both Spybot and Ad-aware with nothing being detected.

I have Windows firewall disabled.

Why can't I run any updates on spyware software I maintain? I am suspecting that something has disabled or corrupted this software.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Are you running any sort of proxy on your PC? If there is a proxy set up in Internet Options then your programs need to be set up to use the proxy. That is all I can think may be happening.
