CSS Encrypted movies?

Okay, I have DVD X Copy Platinum 4.0.3

Sometimes it says that it can not back up a movie of mine because it is CSS Encrypted.

Now am I wrong in saying that I though all movies were CSS encrypted? Is this just an old version? I cant figure this outcause it only does this with certain movies.

Are their any programs that can backup CSS encrypted movies?

And what is the big deal with DVD X Copy Platinum, Is their a reason that it was made illegal? Cause now their are many backup programs. Are their any differences in quality or anything?

What program would you recomend for backing up movies if this can not be fixed? I heard that their is a patch or something for this, is this so? hate to sound so foggy on the topic, but right now this is about as clear as mud to me.

    All movies are CSS.

X Copy was made illegal for violating the DMCA in circumventing CSS to make copies of DVDs with a product that was for purchase. To alleviate the legal trouble, the program can now only decode DVDs that are not CSS-protected.

    Use DVDShrink.

Correction: Not ALL movies are CSS protected. I've found several that aren't. Granted they aren't any of today's popular movies, but they weren't protected.
