Desktop Icons ALL vanished + extra

everything was fine, then I had to fix my mouse cause the cord was caught on something, next thing I know all my Icons just vanished and the background changed back to my old one. I logged in/out and the background changed back. I restarted and nothing happened. I can even drag and make a box on the desktop, its like its locked.

I checked if Show on Desktop was checked for my doc. my comp. etc and they were. What is wrong!!!!

    Oh, nevermind, I found it. I didnt have Show desktop icons checked
