Hp Laptop 1230 will not write to CD

edited January 2006 in Hardware
I have a Hp laptop 1230 it is about 3 years old. When I try and copy files from "My Pictures" everything goes along fine till you get to the pont "copy temp files to CD" Then I get a window that says insert writable CD. The computer just does not recognize that there is a writeable CD in the Drive. When I click on properties for the CD it shows it as full with no usable space. I take that CD out and put it in my other HP laptop and it shows it as empty?

Any Ideas?

Have you tried burning the CDs with a real CD writing software, instead of the cheap junk that comes with Windows?

No, I did not think of that...
I am thinking that there a confiugration or hardware failure somewhere?
    What software would you suggest?
