Shuts down when running NAV or SPYBOT

edited January 2006 in Hardware
Good morning folks. Cleaning off all kinds of malware and have gotten this PC cleaned up pretty nicely thanks to the postings in this forum. My last bit of concern is that the PC now shutsdown in the middle of all Norton AntiVirus Scans or SpyBot scans. I even loaded Ewido and the same thing occurs. I can run Adaware without a hitch. :mad2: They all ran fine before I started the clean up of COOLSEARCH stuffs and used about:Buster. I have subsequently removed it after the clean up.

I uninstalled and reinstalled NAV and started a full system scan and it too caused my machine to power off. Mind you, the PC will run flawlessly and without a problem until one of the above is run.

Below is the latest HIJACKThis. Thanks again for everyone's support.

Update: Tried adding AVG to see if that would give me some idea -- no avail. It too will cause my pc to turn off in the middle of the scan. Not hibernate -- turn off cold hard.

Truly bizarre but may be hardware related. Proped up the pc to allow more air access to fans and was able to run every drive intensive utility I have without incident. Ran a couple of Spybot and NAV scans with no problem. Set the PC back down on the desk and let 'er rip and and once again she shuts with no warning.

Will leave this opened until I get some info from Toshiba about this Satellite A35-S209.

If anyone in this forum has heard of this before, I would love to hear from you. Will close it down in 48 hours.

Laptops are very prone to overheating problems. If you're handy with tools and are confident that you can get it back together, try cleaning out the CPU fan.

The link in this post should help you out. :)

Maybe a file was accidently removed during the cleanup process. Have you tried reinstalling the programs.
