AMD 64 3400+ @ 61 degrees at restart!

edited January 2006 in Hardware
I got the ZALMAN CNPS7700-ALCU 120mm 2 Ball Cooling Fan - Retail and I have the case where there is the temp guage. I put the temp gauage thing, its the thin kind, on top of the processor with the hsf on it. THere was no other way to put it. I put artic silver 5 on the middle of the cpu and put the hsf on. The hsf is VERY tight on there.

Im not sure why its go so high!

Can you give a link to your case? I'd like to see a manual for it. I would bet that the heat probe should go next to the core - not right on top of it. I don't care how thin it is, it is probably ruining contact with the HS/F.

Agreed. if it is a metal tab it goes next to the hsf not ontop of the core. Putting it on your core is an instant way to ruin your CPU :)

I just removed the thing and when I let it warm up while installing norton it was at 33c at restart.

    Ill check again later on
