Connection Difficulties

Hey all,

I'm new and i'm not exactly what you would call a computer technician. I know essentials to get me through. Lately my internet connection has been stuffed. What seems to be happening is i get a good connection but my web pages dont load. I refresh and they dont load, then some do, but then again they don't and then i get disconnected. Also my msn fails to connect regularly which suggests to me my connection is not being detected somehow where i clearly am connected. It happens quite frequently and i think there must be something behind the scenes causing his to happen but i have no idea wat it may be. If there is any one who could help me figure this out and fix the problem it would be greatly appreciated. I Look forward to hearing from you shortly. Thank you.

Jason

Let's have a look for any malware first to see if that is the cause.

Download HijackThis self-extracting zip version from here. Once downloaded, double click on the file & it will install into it's own, permanent folder.
Start HJT & press the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. When the scan is finished a window will pop up giving you the option of where to save it. Save it to desktop where it is easy to access. Open the log file and copy the entire contents of the file & paste it into the body of your post. DO NOT FIX ANYTHING YET. Most of what is there is necessary for the running of your system.

I to have this problem. Norton alerts me that I have a "A.BAT" virus and that it was unable to delete it. I went in safe mode and deleted but when I go to the Norton log section it shows that this trojan is still active.

When I log onto the net my home page will load-up and then after 10 seconds I can not load up any furter web pages as I get the message "server connection problem" eve though the connection indicatior shows full strength.

I use broadbane and was experincing this problem so then used the dial-up and had the same problem. Did a full Norton scab with the latest updates and it does not detect any virus ot trojan but on the Norton log it shows the A.BAT trojan as still being active.

    Can you please advise.

Please follow the advice given in my first post, but start your own thread to avoid confusion :).

Thanks for the advise. Just to let you know that I used WinsockFix last night and it took all of 30 seconds to get the browser working again. This is not to say that I still do not have any trojans.

Something caused the problem, so it may be prudent to post a log :).
