synching folders between computers

I have my file server im getting ready to build and store all my good stuff. I want to be able to sync files between it and my other computers. What im trying to do is if im on my laptop i would like it to look at my file server and see if a folder has updated files on it and transfer them to my laptop or vice versa. So if im working on a text file on my laptop while out and i come home and connect to my wireless a app will look and see in certain folders i select if changes have been made and copy the newest version to the corresponding computer.
