java use causes restart

I hope this is in the right section.my problem is ,everytime I try to install java so that I can use programs such as limewire and azurus my pc reboots itself ...I thought I was installing the wrong verion but that is not the case,if anybody knows why this is happening I would appreciate your help

I am using wondow 98 O/S
