Driver Update help Required Please

edited January 2006 in Science & Tech
Just downloaded the following two Drivers :
SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter version v1.18a ( sl 118a.zip ) and SiS PCI IDE Controller v2.04a ( ide204a.zip ) from the SiS website.

I have Windows Xp Home Edition . Anybody out there ever do and update on one of these drivers . There's so many files inside the zipped file I just don't know where to start. Will these drivers updates load automatically and do I have to remove old drivers first or do these updates overwrite the old driver ? Your help will be greatly appreciated as I have not attempted this before . Thought I would get some guidance from someone who knows what they are doing . Thanks a lot everyone .

Unzip them and look for a setup program (usually setup.exe). The rest should be automatic.

If there is no setup file, go to Device Manager and update the driver from there. Don't choose the "automatic" method; go with "Install from a list or specific location". Then pick "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install", and then click on "Have Disk". At that point just navigate to the folder where you saved your new drivers. :)
