why does opera seem to run slow?

I have opera installed, and it seems to be running slower than ie. is their a reason?

especially on this site, is it just because not everything for sm isnt cached yet? but at anyrate, it seems to download images slower.

    My experience with Opera has been the opposite. It seems much quicker to me than IE and maybe even a little quicker than Firefox.
