mozilla saving log ins...

edited February 2006 in Science & Tech
Quick question that probably requires an easy answer. I am using firefox for my web browser. As I visit sites such as hotmail, gmail, etc it offers to save your log in info as well as your password. Well I went ahead and told it to remember that stuff for all of my log ins. The problem is numerous other members of the family use this computer as well, so they sometimes find it necessary to mess with my stuff. How do I make it stop doing this? Is this mozilla only that does this or does xp have something to do with it?

I also want to block some of the sites so they can never remember log ins. For example, my sister and I both use gmail, I don't want it to remember her id and password either, or else everytime i visit the site to log in I have to delete all of her info. Please help. THanks.

In FireFox, go to Tools > Options > Privacy > Passwords tab.

You can sort out what you want to do from there :)

I knew it was simple. One more thing, it still saves all of the different log in id's. ANy idea how to get rid of those? It is similar to how google saves all of your searches...

I think you need to tell it to clear saved forms, also under Tools -> Options.

    Also try..

    Tools > Clear Private Data...

Not sure how useful it is to you but worth a shot :)

I think you can delete these sorts of drop down window contents all the same way. When the drop down window appears left click on the item you want to get rid of and press your "delete" key (not backspace). Obviously this won't prevent anything from appearing but you could always get in the habit of deleting before logging off.
    Hope this helps.
