Help Me Help My Daughter
Hi!
My daughter's PC was recently overcome with viruses, spyware -- you name it. I utilized all the software your site recommends, and I'm at a point where the PC "seems" pretty good, but I'm not quite sure. I'm attaching a Hijack log for your review. If you see anything nasty, please let me know. Thanks for your time and assistance.

First, the computer needs an Anti-Virus. Some Free ones listed below, please choose ONE and download it. Update the definitions but do not run a scan yet.
Nod32: http://www.nod32.com/home/home.htm
AVG Free Edition: http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1
AntiVir: http://www.free-av.com/
Secondly, you need a Firewall. Some free Firewalls listed below. Again, only have ONE.
Zone Alarm: http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp
Sygate: http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm
Sunbelt Kerio PF: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio-Download.cfm
Thirdly, run a full system scan with the Anti-Virus. Make a list of any file that could not be removed.
Post a new HJT log and any files that could not be removed
I've done everything you asked. Ran the full scan, found six trojan/viruses and successfully deleted them. Listed below is the latest HJT log, but please note I am still getting some popups where software wants to install itself (e.g. WinAntiSpyware 2006). Let me know what else I can do. As always, thanks!

I'm a little confused? As you asked, I ran the scan against the above file and the results said: "found nothing" - status ok. Do you still need a paste of the results?
Can you do the following:
Go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and look for the following
MailSkinner
If found, please uninstall.
=====
Run HiJackThis then:
1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
2. Click "Open Process manager"
-
Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:
C:\program files\mailskinner\mailskinner.exe
Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain
=====
Open HijackThis
- Click the Do a system scan only button
- Check the following entries (below)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [MailSkinner] c:\program files\mailskinner\mailskinner.exe
- Close ALL open windows
Click Fix Checked
=====
Find and Delete the following:
C:\program files\mailskinner << This folder
=====
Reboot and post a new HJT log
Let me know how things are. If you still get popups, we can try other things.
Still being rerouted to various web sites and still getting pop-up screens relative to casinos and something called video zapping.
Also, when I try to shut down the computer, there's a delay and I get the message "NVIDIA twinview windows" is trying to shout down and I always have to click 'end program' to make the process go faster.

Apart from that, your log is clean.
Can you do this scan:
Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
When installing the program, under "Additonal Options" uncheck..
Once installed, update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.
Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
1) Restart your computer
2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml
Once in Safe Mode, please run Ewido
(Do not use the computer while Ewido is scanning)
- Click on scanner
- Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
- NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
- You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
- If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
- DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
- If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
- When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
- Save the report to your desktop
Close EwidoRestart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

I would like for that file to be scanned by doing the following:
You do not have the current version of Internet Explorer. Whether you use it or not, its important that you update it now. Go to Windows Update and look for an update for Internet Explorer. While you are there, download ALL other critical updates but do not download SP2 just yet.
Reboot and post the a new HJT log, along with the scan results
