I hope this can help others who have been having a problem getting their DFI Lan Party boards to post for the first time and those who just installed a new bios chip after a bad flash like me. I recently had a bad flash and ordered a new bios chip from badflash.com which I put in my board and it still refused to post. So I found some info that helped me and it worked like a dream come true. My board didn't beep or post the first time so I hit the "RESET" button on the board and it came right up upon restarting.
  • Use a PS2 keyboard only for this process.
  • Disconnect the ATX cable or turn off the power switch on the power supply.
  • Put the clear CMOS jumper in the "CLEAR" position and remove the battery for 15 minutes or it may take up to a few hours.
  • Put the onboard speaker jumper to on.
  • Put only 1 stick of memory in the top Orange slot only.
  • Reinstall the battery and move the CMOS jumper to the "Normal" position.
  • Switch the power suply to "ON".
  • Hold down the "INSERT" key on the keyboard (remember to only use a PS2 keyboard as a USB keyboard will not work).
  • While holding down the Insert key power up the board till you hear a beep then release the key.
  • If the board still didn't post or you never heard a beep, press the "RESET" but do not touch the key.
  • After the board posts, press the "DEL" key to enter the bios and make the appropriate changes.

My thanks to 'ExRoadie' at DFI-STREET.com.

Much less of a nightmare than the holes I put in the wall with my head prior to trying the above method. :banghead:

I can about imagine ...I'd have been pretty damned frustrated myself.

So how's the 170 project coming along? Haven't heard much about it.

Been taking it easy with that one. It has been 2.5 with LDT of 4/ stock volts/ and memory 1:1 @ 2.5-3-3-8 for weeks now.

I just have to ask, did you have to do all that while balancing on one foot, hopping up and down, rubbing your head and whistling the Star Spangled Banner in 3/4 time??

When it comes to those DFI boards we had our fair share of hiccups (being nice about it). I actually gave up for some time, but Sally couldn't. Took near on 6 month's to get it right.

She found one of our online suppliers sold chips for those boards. Sally got 2 of them, put one in and never looked back. Been running solid ever since.

No time to play with it now, due to other, more important projects.:(

Actually the whole process is a lot simpler to do than it is to read! ;) It all took me 20 minutes from start to running again. :)

Yeah you're right... It's like if DFI, by saying its a tweaking board, are allowed to let some very strange bug or allowed to be blind to the fact that their boards are a heavy load of problems.

I've run into a major load of problems with my computer, because of thie board. Last one was about my LAN connexion that goes up and down and d/c and was not stable at all. Finaly i think got my problem resolved by updating the drivers of Computer/ACPI thing for a most recent one that come with SP2. :skeptic: This seems that have resolve my problems, but i don't know why this trick is not sticked on DFI-Street or something, cuz it took me more than 4 days of search to come accross this post lol I had post 2 times about my problems and i was feeling not listened at all.

Ok i was aware that this board needs tweaking, wich is nice cuz this board allow us to do everything we can imagine to do with a mb. But does tweaking must mean problems ? Just look at the DFI-Street board and there's 3 pages of problems per day. This board sure gives the best performance in overall, but you must be ready for the weirdest problems, weirdest solution, and a lot of :banghead:

My next board will not be a DFI, im pretty sure about that :p
