Can't open Task Manager in XP Home

I can't open Task Manager in Windows XP Home, either by right clicking in the task bar, or by using Control-Alt-Delete.

And Limewire 4.9 keeps trying to open even after closing it repeatedly.

Any idea on how to get Task Manager open?

I removed (uninstalled) Limewire and restarted the computer, but it still won't open Task Manager!:mad2:

Not saying that this is neccessarily the case, but I know a lot of viruses and spyware tend to immobilise the Task Manager option so that you can't "kill" the process with ease. Maybe try downloading SmitRem tool from noahdfear. Instructions how to use and download can be found here:

also run your preffered anti spyware software (Adaware SE, Spybot etc.) and see if that picks anything up.
    Hope this helps.

First you will need to run a complete system clean, I recommend using Super AntiSpyware and AVG-Antivirus. These two in combination will get rid of almost everything.
Once that is done head over to The Tech Empire and read the article linked there. It has detailed instructions on how to re-enable your task manager as well as a batch script that will do it for you if you aren't comfortable editing the registry.
