ASRosk K7VT4A+ AGP X8 - how?

edited February 2006 in Hardware
Hi,

I have an ASRock K7VT4A+ M/B with 512mb DDR400 and an Athlon XP 2800 processor.

I recently purchased a GeForce 6200V+ gxf card, but after installing it, got no video signal from the gfx card. Strange. So I decided to put my old GeForce MX400 back in and nose about in the bios for some answers.

I then changed the AGP mode from Auto to AGP x4, and the arpeture to 256mb to match the card. However, my choices for AGP Mode were:

Auto
x4
x2

WHERE WAS AGP X8 ?????

This M/B is supposed to be AGP x8, so I would expect to see:

Auto
x8
x4
x2

What is going on?

The m/b manual doesn't even mention an AGP x8 option either...

Any pointers most appreciated!
:sad2:

Your MX 400 isn't an AGP 8X part so it won't give you that option. Now that it's set to AGP 4X put the 6200 back in and see if it will boot with it, after it has (if it does) set it to AGP 8X from there.

    Good luck!!

Also there's exactly no perfromance difference between AGP 4x and 8x (and PCIe 8x/16x either for that matter)

    So don't worry about it
