I need help with AlfaCleaner.

Hello friends, I am desperately attempting to remove a spy-ware/virus/type thing by the name of AlfaCleaner. I also have wininet.dll showing up in the virus scan but my virus scanner can't seem to remove it. I am using the AOL/McAffe virus scanner and have downloaded Spybot S&D and Hijackthis, but now I need instructions on what to do & how to use them. Many, many thanks in advance! -Dennis.

    Can you please do the following.

    ===============

    We'll need to unload Spybot's Teatimer before we begin. To do this can you start Spybot and go to Tools > Resident and uncheck the box next to Tea-Timer. Make sure that the icon in the system tray is no longer there. If it is, just right click on it and select "Exit". Do not forget to re-enable it when we are done :).

    ===============

    Go to Add/Remove programs and remove(uninstall) the following, if present:

    AlfaCleaner

    The above could appear anywhere within the entry. Be careful not to remove any personal or system software.

    ===============

    Run HiJackThis then:

    1. Click "Open the Misc Tools Section"
    2. Click "Open Process manager"

    -

    Next, while holding down the CTRL key, locate (if present) and click on (highlight) each of the following:

    C:\Program Files\AlfaCleaner\AlfaCleaner.exe

    Now double-check and make sure that only those item(s) above are highlighted, then click "Kill process". Now, click "Refresh", check again, and repeat this step if any remain.

    ===============

    Scan with HiJackThis, then check(tick) the following, if present:


    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlfaCleaner] C:\Program Files\AlfaCleaner\AlfaCleaner.exe


    Now, close all instances of Internet Explorer and any other windows you have open except HiJackThis, click "Fix checked".

    ===============

    Locate and delete the following item(s), if present. Make sure you are able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

    folders...

    C:\Program Files\AlfaCleaner

    -

    Note that some of these file(s)/folder(s) may or may not be present. If present, and cannot be deleted because they're 'in use', try deleting them in "Safe Mode".

    -

    Reboot.

    After rebooting, rescan with hijackthis and post back a new log. Please let me know how your pc is now.
