alemod.f.dll

I am experiencing the same problem as Hurley6x with W32/alemod.f.dll on c:/windowssytem32/wininet.dll. Although I am pretty good on the computer I am not a technician by any means. Can you walk me through how I could clean this virus from by computer?

    Hi and welcome to Short-Media. :)

    Please download Hijack This from here.

    Unzip the program to it's own folder, preferable a new folder you can name HJT right off the C:\ directory or you can unzip it to the desktop.

    Open the program and have it do a scan and save a log file. Copy and paste the entire contents of the log into your reply.

    Please make a directory here:

    C:\HJT

    Or move the program from where it is now onto your desktop. Just move hijackthis.exe to the desktop if this is what you decide to do. We want to get it out of the temp directory.

    Please go to Jotti's and have these files scanned. Post the results back here.

    Please download the trial version of Ewido anti-malware here:
    http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
    Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.
    Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    1) Restart your computer
    2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
    4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

    For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:

    Once in Safe Mode, please run Ewido, and do a full scan. During the scan it will prompt you to clean files, click OK.

    Save the logfile from the scan. Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan.

    It did not work. Although Ewido found about 175 infections, one major, it did not remove the alemod.f.dll virus. I could not access via normal mode.

    Is the anything else I could do???

    Open Notepad, and copy/paste the following into a new file:
    dir %Systemdrive%\wininet.dll /a h /s > files.txt
    start notepad files.txt
    Save this as FindFiles.bat, choose to save it as *all files and place it on your desktop.

    Double click on FindFiles.bat and post the content of the text file you get in your next reply
