Laptop wont boot up

Hey,
I hit the power button.. Laptop turns on, and just stays a black screen. Nothing else happens.. Makes a small noise from the speakers.. and sorta sounds like its on, but its not. Any clue what the problem is/how to fix it?

    Give us some details. Age of the laptop, brand model number, Operating System, etc.

    Are you running on batteries or AC power? Have you tried it on AC power with the battery removed? Have you tried getting into the BIOS?

    More info and we'll take it from there. :)
