I posted this question somewhere else but I can't seem to find it agian. hmmmmm. early signs of huntingtons? Anyway i want to know if opterons are better or athlons. I always thought opterons were more fore laptops like celerons.

Opteron is the server chip.
Athlon is the desktop chip.
Turion is the laptop chip.
Semperon is the budget chip. (Celeron rank for AMD but much better)
Originally the Opterons were all 940 pin socket and the Athlon 64 was 939 and 754 (on the way out). But now there are Opterons for socket 939 desktop boards. This means you can get the premium chips in your every day desktop rig. I am running an Opteron 170 which is a dual core Opteron with 1 Mb of L2 cache for each core.
