PC slow at startup and more (caused by itunes?)
This is my first post on these forums so hi to everyone:D
I hope someone can help me with this (bare with me...):
The other day I was adding album art into itunes by finding images online and dragging them to the proper location in itunes. During this my pc was starting to pause on occasion while it waited for the images to transfer - so I thought nothing of it.
However, when I restarted my PC it took for EVER! Now, my pc took a small amount of time to start up anyway, but this was crazy - so bad infact that after the initial loading screen with the windows XP page and bar, my screen loses the signal for a moment before window starts to load. It takes about 6 mins easy from the time I turn my PC on to the time windows is stable enough to use.

These are my PC's main symptoms:
1) Very slow starting windows up and shutting down
2) Stuttery sound when I open programs or am saving docs.
3) Media Player plays distorted movies and sound at first but then is ok.
As it says in title to this link, I think itunes is the guilty one. I have managed to fix the stutter itunes would do by changing the prefs in quicktime. But my PC is still not right. I really do not want to reinstall everything - I am a final year student at Uni and I have loads of work to do. And so clean installing everything will take so much time that I don't have. Plus, i'm not convinced it will solve the problem.
I have tried everything I know to try and solve the problem, just like the peeps from the above links - Antivirus check, ad-aware check, update drivers, defrag etc...and nothing improves.

I got a few 'unexpected errors' at first too, but it carried on ok.
