Why does my WinXP show full filenames and my friends' don't?

I'm using Detail view setting for my folders, but it seems like i'm the only one with XP that can view the entire filename + extension of my files while my friends' XPs only show the filenames without the extension. How do it set it so that i can see em'?

Open up any folder, like My Computer. Click Tools > Folder options. Click the View tab. Under Advanced Settings, uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types." Click OK, and viola! You're set. :smiles:

Did you also click on apply to all folders, also double check that he's on detail view and not one of the other ones.
