Rique's GF Horribly Slow Puter

Hey fellas,

I was sent here by a buddy of mine, hoping that maybe you guys could help me.

My gf's puter has taken a crap as of late. It is horribly slow. She has also had some winfixer pop ups randomly. I tried running ad-aware, but the end result there is the blue screen of death. I was able to run HJT and here is the log. Any help would be appreciated...thanks.
*EDIT* OHh and I also ran spybot. Just found 5 entires of keys I believe. Those were deleted.

On your PC I would recommend downloading Ewido Anti-Malware from my signature below. Follow the instructions below:

You will need to update ewido to the latest definition files.
    • On the left hand side of the main screen click update
    • Click on Start

The update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed. After the updates are installed, exit ewido.

Once the updates are installed do the following:
    • If you have an "always on" connection to the internet, physically disconnect that connection until you are finished with Safe Mode and have rebooted back into normal mode.
    • Reboot into Safe Mode, you can do this by restarting your computer, then contiunally tapping F8 until a menu appears. Use your up arrow key to highlight Safe Mode, then hit enter. Then, run ewido.
    • Close all open windows/programs/folders. Have nothing else open while ewido performs its scan!
    • Click on scanner
    • Click on Settings
      • Under "How to scan" all boxes should be selected
      • Under "Possibly unwanted software" all boxes should be selected
      • Under "What to scan" select scan every file
      • Click OK
    • Click on Complete system scan
    • Let the program scan the machine
    • If ewido finds anything, it will pop up a notification. Click Perform action with all infections.

When Ewido is finished it will generate a log. Save the log to your desktop. Reboot into normal mode and post the Ewido log and another Hijack This log.

Yes Ewido did find and delete a lot of stuff. That's not unusual. Ewido is a very good program. Anyway the HJT log looks good. Are you having any other problems since the Ewido scan?

I have had issues with the trojan_alchem virus. I can't seem to get rid of it. Did Ewido clean that up as well? I will do a virus scan tonight to verify that it is gone. Thanks a bunch!

The presence of the Alchem agent can be seen in the Ewido log here:

    C:\Documents and Settings\Enrique\Local Settings\Temp\alchem.exe -> Downloader.Alchemic : Error during cleaning

Best way to handle this is to reboot in safe mode and then use Windows Explorer to navigate to this folder:

C:\Documents and Settings\Enrique\Local Settings\Temp<----Delete all the files in this folder.

Empty the recycle bin. I think you won't have the problem with the Trojan.alchem anymore, but run a virus scan anyway and let me know what you find.
    :)
