will a 350 psu do

hello
im currently upgrading pc to a

Abit AV8-3RD Eye Skt 939 board(upgrade)
amd 64bit x2 3800+ dual core(upgrade)
512 333 ddr(current)
2x maxtor 40gig ide ata 133(current)
nvidia geforc mx4000 agp 8x 128mb(current)
i will upgrade other hardwear at later stage(need more funds,lol)

with the upgrade of the mainboard and processer will a 350w psu be ok

any advice please folks

    With the configuration you are showing in your post, I believe that a quality 350 watt might be barely acceptable, but would be borderline even at stock speeds. You would be much better off using a psu rated in the 450-500 watt minimum size range. You can get a good quality psu in that size range for less than $100.

    ok thanks, ill be safe and order 550w abit more above budget but safer for my proc

    Yeah, that way you are future proofing your purchase too with a bigger psu. You can then add a much more powerful vid card later and/or more hard drives and not have to worry. Also, when shopping around for the new psu, get one that has the 20/24 pin convertible ATX plug on it as the extra 4 pins just unclip from the ATX plug. I just recently built a system for my brother with a psu like this and it's neat and also future-proofs the psu purchase.
