    Your HijackThis log is clean.

Lets check other places that malware might hide in.

Go here and download then run Silent Runners.vbs. It generates a log, please post the information back in this thread.
If you have a script blocking program, please allow the file to run. It is not malicious.

That doesn't show any infections either.

    Lets try a Anti-Malware scan:

Please download the trial version of Ewido Security Suite here:
    http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
When installing the program, under "Additonal Options" uncheck..
    • Install background guard
    • Install scan via context menu
Once installed, update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet.
Next, please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following:
    1) Restart your computer
    2) After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, press F8.
    3) Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear
    4) Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.

For additional help in booting into Safe Mode, see the following site:
    http://www.pchell.com/support/safemode.shtml

Once in Safe Mode, please run Ewido
(Do not use the computer while Ewido is scanning)
    • Click on scanner
    • Click Complete System Scan and the scan will begin.
    • NOTE: During some scans with ewido it is finding cases of false positives.
    • You will need to step through the process of cleaning files one-by-one.
    • If ewido detects a file you KNOW to be legitimate, select none as the action.
    • DO NOT select "Perform action on all infections"
    • If you are unsure of any entry found select none for now.
    • When the scan is finished, click the Save report button at the bottom of the screen.
    • Save the report to your desktop
    Close Ewido

Restart your computer in normal mode and please post the log from the Ewido scan.

Lets clear out your Java Cache because Ewido cannot remove some files sitting there.

    To do this:
    • Go into Control Panel
    • Double-Click the Java icon
    • Under the General tab, click the Delete Files... button
    • In the new window that opens, make sure all three boxes are checked and press OK
    • Press OK again to close

Reboot and let me know how things are :)

i did this and the problem is still here

i really appreciate all your help but it just won't seem to go away
  • TroganTrogan London, UK
    edited February 2006
It doesn't seem to be malware related because all the scans come back clean. I think you should go back to your original thread and let them know about this thread. I'm pretty sure its hardware related but i'm not an expert in that area.

Let me know how it goes.
    Good Luck :)
