Guys, can someone tell me the optimal settings for Folding@home via graphical version. I tried the test-only but is there a way that it will run in the backround and not on the task bar like the graphic version. It's for sys 2 in my sig. And is there anyway I can use BOINC to do the folding, or do I have to stick with it's on software?

-Oh, and I will be running SETI@HOME at the same time, and sometimes Counter-Strike. And also, how do i add those banner thindgs to my sig so I can take out the smiley faces.

    Welcome to the Team. :)

What OS is on the rig in question?

CS and Seti I would asume Windows XP...

I would run the fluffless client as a service and not worry about anything else...

I wonder if SETI and F@H would fight for the CPU? I know F@H can be set to use x% of processor time, can SETI? If so, setting them both to 50% would probably be a good idea, to make sure one doesn't end up with all of it.

Ya they can both be set to use a certain amount. I set SETI slighly lower becasue there's no competition and it a bit less important. I'm working on getting Einstien@home too, but I won't run all three together, just Folding, and either seti or einstien. Like I said though, I need to know if I can run Folding from BOINC

F@H is it's own program, it can't be run from BOINC. They have a program that's similar to folding that runs through BOINC, but it's not the same thing.

If I ever get a bunch of spare computers laying around the house again (although my friends have been told to shoot me before that happens), I'd run ClimatePrediction through BOINC on some of them.

As a matter of fact, I have my Compaq Presario (Sys 1 in sig) laying around gathering dust, but there's three problems -
    1) No internet connection to it.
    2) It wouldn't be able to do much work.
    3) My parent's are not tech savvy and they think that they can get $500 or so selling it since they paid $1500 for it. I told them that if they could find somebody who would pay that much for it its a GREAT deal. If I tell them I want to keep it because I want to run some programs that help fold protiens, or something, they'll go nuts, so it's not possible. $500 ... haha that should be a SM byte. $500 for a compaq presario thats 4 yrs old, when you can get a dell for $300+.
Anyway, I have a question about folding. How long does a typical WU take to complete because mine says it's going to end the first one in September and that seems awefully long. Am i setting something wrong? and should I make it go by deadlines or not?

that is just the due time that stanford needs the WU by. your computer will almost certainly finish it much faster than that.
