Following up from this recent news report, Microsoft has now officially confirmed that Windows Vista will indeed be released with six discrete versions, as rumours indicated.
The world's largest software maker plans three offerings aimed at consumers, two at business users and a stripped-down edition for emerging markets. Unlike the current Windows XP, there will no versions designed specifically for advanced 64-bit computing, multimedia computers or Tablet PCs.
...
Vista Home Premium will be the middle option for consumers, sandwiched between the high-end Windows Vista Ultimate, which also includes business-oriented features, and a bare-bones Windows Vista Home Basic without the multimedia capabilities.

I'll stick with XP for at least a few more years, then maybe consider Linux or some other alternative (OSX for non-Crapple). Vista and it's crappy DRM schemes just leaves me cold.

I'm really looking forward to Vista, it really seems to be taking shape. And I have to admit, as much as I love XP, it's starting to show its age now.

I'm ready for Windows Vista, although I'd prefer they ditched the stupid 101 different versions, it will just confuse consumers.

Home and Pro will do me just nicely.

I will personally stab Bill Gates in the face if they still overwrite your current MBR without even asking. Talk about trying to gain footing by removing the competition.
