Restarting again and again...

I posted this in the news forum too...

I installed the new AC 97 sound drivers and when I restarted the computer, it won't start. I keep getting the "windows didn't load right" error and I've tried to start it in normal and safe modes and it just keeps restarting and bringing me back to that screen.. Whats the deal? Did I get the restart worm, and if so, how the heck do I get my computer back?

A skeered Buddy J

Repair install Windows. I don't think you have any other options...

Yeah, I agree, sorry about my other post in news, I didn't catch on you couldn't get into Windows.

A repair install should be the thing to try first.

This is Buddy J's roommate typing on one of our last working computers (3 down in 2 days :( ).

He didn't have any luck with repair install. He loaded Windows onto one of my extra HD's and tried to read his drive with it, but it says it's not formatted.

Any idea how to recover the stuff on it? He has to write a novel for one of his classes and he's lost the beginning of it on his HD.

If I've repeated anything he's said, I apologize. I'm typing this on a TV screen and I can barely read the text :D

Contact me on AIM, it's in my profile.

We'll get your show on the road ASAP. Just plug the drive in as a slave on the remaining working computer, and then contact me.

Buddy J sends his thanks. He just packed up his comp and is heading home though, his Dad works at Boeing and his Dad thinks that they have some techs there that can do some recovery.

Hopefullly they succeed, but if not we'll give it a try with you over AIM. Thanks agiain Thrax!

I was going to give you guys the mean of doing bit-for-bit/low-level sector recovery in the warmth of your own abode. But cheers to Boeing.

You wouldn't like to create one of your famous tutorials on this subject would you?

That would be really interesting :)

    Cheers
