Shut down problem..

I have a Power Pro 2:17 laptop, 2GHz P-M, x700 Mobility, 2GB DDRII667 memory....

Sometimes when I shut down my screen freezes, but it's got weird lines all around like it's video related. My mouse will stay active, but the system freezes. This morning I noticed the mouse eventually freezes.

I'll tell you how it goes... first I click START>Turn off computer... when the screen comes up for choices I choose "shut down" but at that point before I even lick OK, it does the freeze.

I can see mose of the screen when it happens, but it's got wierd straigh random and very out of place lines. Kinda reminds me from back in the Nintendo days when the system freezes and you would get strange artifacts on the screen.

The system is not overclocked, and it seems fairly random. Anyone have an idea?

Thanks guys.

Try closing every extra program and service running, then try shutting down again and see if the problem persists. If it doesn't screw up on you that way it is probably something running in the background which doesn't want to go away gracefully.
