    Not sure if it's the done thing to recommend another forum but for DVD stuff I visit CD Freaks

    I'm still very happy with my Liteon, see my specs below.

    I bought a NEC 3550A from Newegg for about $35, and using software I learned about @ CDFreaks, I flashed it to a 4551A (adding DVD-RAM and Labelflash support) which is worth about $30 more if you can find it in America. :)

    I run plextors 716a's in all my machines. I have like 6 or them and I am very happy with them. :D

    I wondered if that was possible, you say that you did it, you have had no problems at all?

    How come we can't get the 4551A here?
