Anyone tried getting XGL working?

Anyone out there tried getting XGL working yet? I'm mostly interested in hearing from the Gentoo users. But any other info would be interesting as well. I have a week off for spring break coming up and thought it might be interesting to give it a go.

    just tried it on my HPzt3000, it found everything, lcd res, ati radeon 9000/9200.

    then the screen went blank with artifacts :(
