We've just made a number of changes to the forum organization and staffing as you may have noticed. These changes will continue over the course of the next week as we continue to reevaluate how to best organize things.

You may notice that we:
  • Merged "Cooling" with "Case/Mod/PSU" to become Case Physics
  • Merged "Benchmarking" with "Overclocking" into Performance Tweaking
  • Dissolved the Club 64 area
  • Recategoried from Hardware/Software to Specialized/Knowledge Base
  • Moved Digital Media out of "Non-Technical"
  • Shuffled a number of staff positions

We will definitely be announcing more about these changes soon, I just wanted to say something for those of you whose world has been turned on end ;) Expect further category and name changes for the forums as we tweak the new organization this week.

Cheers, and thanks for bearing with our mess as we remodel :)

Jon, they just don't realise or care, that those of us who are over 30 & who can't configure Win Server 2003 properly, don't cope well with unexpected change.:ausflag: :ukflag: ;D;D

I think there needs to be a distinction between "Hardware" and "Software". Even though most folks know the differences I think it is easier to have the two separate areas for ease of use as well as being a little more 'noob' friendly.

Oh yea! Does "Forums in Flux" mean we need to keep an eye to the sky for a giant ball of solder coming our way? :eek2:

Agreed. I've restored a hardware/software split this morning. 15 forums in a row was more annoying than anticipated.

I'll try to maintain a safe work area ;)

I kind of think lumping cooling, case modding, PSUs and everything else it's in with is kind of a clusterfob (big wad of keys on one fob). Personally I'd have merged it with overclocking since both go hand in hand really.

I can understand paring things down, the forums were getting kind of sprawled.

Graphics forum description should be principal rather than principle (at least according to dictionary.com)

also, some of the descriptions end in periods, others no punctuation. It's a little annoying, but nothing that needs to be fixed urgently.

    I sorted all that.

Obviously, I made more organizational changes today as well. Most notably, I grouped all the areas that make this a great community into the "Short-Media Neighborhood" at the bottom of the board, and also moved our "Specialized Support" area below Hardware and Software. I think this makes a lot more sense, especially for new people trying to find their way around. Our community is what makes this place unique, so I wanted to highlight that and simplify the layout further at the same time. :)
