New Dell Inspiron E1705 and 7800 Go Graphic Scores

edited March 2006 in Hardware
Here are some benchmarks from my new Inspiron E1705 stock which Dell started shipping this month. Nothing installed on it since I got it except the 3D Mark benchmarks.. I'd love to know what others are getting and if these numbers sound right (I'm new to this, but want to game on this notebook).

Inspiron E1705:
Intel Core Dup Processor T2500 (2Ghz/667 MHZ FSB)
OS = Windows XP media Center 2005
LCD = 17" Ultrasharp Wide Screen UXGA with True Life (1920x1200)
Memory = 2 GB shared Dual channel DDR2 SDRAM at 667Mhz
Hard drive = 60GB SATA
Video Card = 256MB NVIDA GeForce GO 7800

Comparison system - Old Desktop
Intel 2.4 Ghz
1 gig memory
Win XP OS
GeForce 6800 (Enabled all the pipelines)

So the 7800 Go outperforms the 6800 nicely except in the GT2-4 test. Does that sound right? I tried doing a search for other 7800 Go benchmarks but only find the 7800 GT version benchmarks..

Well, I updated the drivers (previously 78.59) to 84.20 (using tips and modified inf from www.laptopvideo2go.com) and now I get a score of 4063 with 3dmark 2005. Previously it was 3828.

It's not what I was hoping for, but better I guess..... Some of the other people with a similar setup seem to be getting in the 5k range.

I have seen 5K range on my end, but haven't really pushed it to far. Maybe I should give it a whirl~!
