Fiber Optic DSL

I've been looking into the fiber optic DSL options (like Verzion FIOS) available to me down here in Austin Texas. It seems to me that none of them are available yet, and I'm desperate for an alternative to Time Warner's over priced bull**** service. Does anyone know where I can go to find out WHEN this is coming to my town?

Couldn't really find it, but contact verizon at 800 567 6789 and speak with a DSL tech, have them run a FIOS qualification test, all they'll need to do is run a DSL Loop Qualification test and it should tell them if you are capable of having FIOS. If they don't know what they're doing, have them WARM transfer you to a FIOS rep. :)

no see I'm positive FIOS isn't available in my area YET, but its available right outside my area and the question was is there anyone I can talk to who can tell me WHEN I'll have it here

Usually CS for any given ISP has a pretty decent knowledge for rollout times, atleast in my area.

They should have a date listed for when it should be available when they do a loop qualification.

I have no idea. By "In my area" I was indicating that local ISPs have always been very good at giving me estimates for when certain technologies would be coming to a neighborhood near us, Prime. Ameritech, SBC and WoW were always able to give me fairly-accurate time-tables for new speed upgrades and whatnot.

Just not you Prime ;) But even the most dumbass TSR at Verizon should be able to find out when someone can get DSL or FIOS, but sometimes the system doesn't know LOL
