I just DLed WA3, never really used WA period. But I have seen people with WA docked at the top of their screen out of the way. How do you do that?

I think you are referring to the MMD skin. It can be found here:

haha@thrax. I used to agree, but right now I am running EZLiteStep, WinAmp3(playing my Playlist), MyIE2, F@H, MSN Messenger, Studio, and of course all the Winders appz and yet I am only using 134MB according to my Task Manager. I just tunred off F@H and my systems keeps at 2-3%(mind you I am playing music and typing this at the same time.

My Memory is also at 112MB right now with F@H off, and... frankly I don't care anymore. If I don't see any slowdown I am fine, I am about to do some work in Illustrator and Photoshop for school too witha ll this running.

It was the MMD3 Skin, thanks, I even had this once before when I last did use WA.

If someone is worried about the few extra MB that WA3 uses TODAY (not 2, 3 or more years ago) then he needs a new system. Back in the day I would not use programs that used more RAM than necessary, but now I have 1GB of RAM, I can spare 6 megs for a program I really like.

// Edit: SCRATCH THAT. WA3 isn't even taking up 5MB on my system, much less 6MB more than WA2. My bad.

Same here, 1GB of RAM. I am about to run a test to show off my new system :D

    With:
    F@H
    Adobe Illustrator
    MyIE2
    WinAmp3 playing a Playlist
    EZLiteStep
    MSN Messenger
    Studio

All running in thebackground I got 12,563 in 3D Mark 2k1 and I usually get 14K.

Fresh install of Winamp3, using MMD3 skin. No playlist loaded. Installed the program, launched it immediately, counted to 30 and then took a screenshot of the task manager. Six megs my ass.

    No clue Thrax...
I did a test and that program studio I spoke of is appearently WinAmp. Big Deal 9MB or whatever. Windows Media Player takes up more.

Hrm, I honestly wouldn't know why thrax. I didn't see what I was at before I started playing with my Player. I know that I changed some settings though, perhaps that is the difference? But you can see WMP9 takes up almost 17MB on my system.

Ok, here's my taskmanager showing the memory usage of winamp.exe (Winamp2) and winamp3.exe (Winamp3).

The memory usage for WA3 is about 3x that of WA2.
The VM usage is much more substantial, but I've got enough RAM that I don't care. The niceties of WA3 make it worth it to me. Don't need/want those features? Stick w/ WA2. Both serve a purpose. For me, WA3 is what I prefer and it's worth the extra memory.

Kinda off topic, but does anyone have the transparency plug-in for Winamp2? Someone had it a while back and I really dig it, but since my old harddrive totally crapped out, I lost it.

If anyone has it, could you PM me a link where I can download it please?

I post it here, rather than PM so that others might benefit.

Hope that's what you were talking about.

WinAMP 2.91 With all its windows open uses as much memory as WinAMP 3 with just the player open.

Its nothing when you have 1GB of RAM, but if it uses that much memory with one window open, it shows how inefficient it is.
